How does WordPress work?

Behind every website is the source code that it is written in. The code behind a simple “Hello World” on a page is simple, but the more functionality you add to a website the more complicated and time consuming it is to write that code. Thankfully we have platforms like WordPress which make it easy to visually build our websites without having to know much code at all. In fact these days, with Page builders like Elementor Pro and thousands of plugins, you can pretty much get away with not knowing any code at all.

It is handy to understand how it all works. What WordPress and the page builders do, is to translate what you have done on the front end into code. The code gets saved in a file that gets uploaded to a server. It gets assigned a number (IP address) on the server that is also translated into the URL or domain name.

When you type a website address (Domain name, URL) into an internet browser, translates it to the IP address and finds the server that hosts the files for that website. This means that in order to have a website on the world wide web you need to have a domain name and a place to host your website files.

WordPress is the tool you will use to create your website files.
